Daily Practice - GCSE Computer Science
Systems, data representation, networks, algorithms and programming.
15th July 2025
- 1SQL and Data Handling
State what a foreign key is used for.
- 2Trace Tables and Binary/Hex Conversions
Convert the denary number 39 to an 8-bit binary number, showing your working.
- 3Systems Architecture
Two CPUs are compared for a task optimised for multiple cores: CPU A has 2 cores at 4.2 GHz; CPU B has 6 cores at 3.0 GHz. Explain which CPU is likely to perform better for this task.
- 4Memory and Primary Storage
A CPU's cache has a hit rate of 80%. During a task the CPU makes 4000 requests for data. Calculate the number of cache hits and cache misses.
- 5Secondary Storage
A 1 TB hard disk drive costs 40 pounds. A 500 GB solid-state drive costs 60 pounds. Calculate the cost per gigabyte of each device, and state which is cheaper per GB. Use 1 TB = 1000 GB.
