Daily Practice - GCSE Computer Science
Systems, data representation, networks, algorithms and programming.
17th August 2025
- 1Programming Fundamentals
A FOR loop runs: total = 0, FOR i = 1 TO 4, total = total + i, NEXT i. State the value of total after the loop finishes.
- 2Producing Robust Programs
Give one example of erroneous test data for a field that only accepts whole numbers from 1 to 10.
- 3Boolean Logic
Evaluate X = NOT A AND B when A = 0 and B = 1.
- 4Data Representation: Number Systems
An 8-bit register stores the value 01100000 (denary 96). State the resulting 8-bit binary value after a left shift by 1 place, and state whether an overflow occurs.
- 5Data Representation: Images, Sound and Compression
An uncompressed file is 6000 KB. After lossless compression it is 1500 KB. Calculate the compression ratio in the form n:1 (original size : compressed size).
