Make x the subject of y = 9x^2 - 5.

y is directly proportional to x. When x = 7, y = 35. Work out y when x = 6.
- 3Pythagoras2 marks
A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 15 cm and one shorter side of 12 cm. Work out the other shorter side.
- 4Probability Trees3 marks
A bag holds 4 red and 3 blue counters. One is taken, replaced, then another is taken. Work out the probability both are red.
- 5Averages from Frequency Tables3 marks
In a survey 5 households own 1 car, 6 own 2 cars and 7 own 3 cars. Work out the mean number of cars, to 2 decimal places.
