Make x the subject of y = 5x^2 - 3.

A block has volume 185 cm^3 and density 8 g/cm^3. Work out its mass.
- 3Angles in Parallel Lines2 marks
Two parallel lines are crossed by a straight line. One of a pair of corresponding angles is 90°. Work out the other, and give a reason.
- 4Probability Trees3 marks
A bag holds 3 red and 8 blue counters. One is taken, replaced, then another is taken. Work out the probability both are red.
- 5Averages from Frequency Tables3 marks
In a survey 8 households own 1 car, 7 own 2 cars and 8 own 3 cars. Work out the mean number of cars, to 2 decimal places.
