Daily Practice - Higher Plus
- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 5 units wide with frequency density 1.5, one 10 units wide with density 3.5. How many values in total?
- 2Bounds3 marks
x = 177 and y = 115, each correct to the nearest whole number. Work out the upper bound of x - y.
- 3Completing the Square3 marks
Work out the coordinates of the turning point of y = x^2 - 4x + 12.
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 3, y = 63. Work out the positive value of x when y = 343.
- 5Perpendicular Lines and the equation of a tangent3 marks
The point (12, 16) lies on the circle x^2 + y^2 = 400. Work out the gradient of the tangent to the circle at that point.
