Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 10 units wide with frequency density 1.5, one 20 units wide with density 1.4. How many values in total?
- 2Bounds3 marks
A rectangle is 20 cm by 27 cm, each correct to the nearest cm. Work out the upper bound of its area.
- 3Completing the Square3 marks
Work out the coordinates of the turning point of y = x^2 + 10x + 4.
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 2, y = 36. Work out the positive value of x when y = 81.
- 5Perpendicular Lines and the equation of a tangent3 marks
The point (12, 16) lies on the circle x^2 + y^2 = 400. Work out the gradient of the tangent to the circle at that point.
