- 1Surds3 marks
Simplify sqrt(32) + sqrt(2), giving your answer in the form a sqrt(b).
- 2Completing the Square3 marks
Work out the coordinates of the turning point of y = x^2 + 14x - 3.
- 3Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^3. When x = 3, y = 135. Work out y when x = 4.
- 4The Cosine Rule3 marks
A triangle has sides of 10 cm and 11 cm with an angle of 77° between them. Work out the third side, to 1 decimal place.
- 5Conditional Probability3 marks
A bag holds 5 red, 7 blue and 5 green counters. Two are taken without replacement. Given neither is green, what is the probability both are red?
