Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.
- 1Bounds3 marks
x = 159 and y = 57, each correct to the nearest whole number. Work out the upper bound of x - y.
- 2Proof3 marks
Prove that the sum of 5 consecutive integers is always a multiple of 5. State the simplified sum you would use.
- 3Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is inversely proportional to x^2. When x = 3, y = 36. Work out y when x = 6.
- 4Finding the Area of Any Triangle3 marks
A triangle has sides of 11 cm and 14 cm and an area of 54.45 cm^2. Work out the acute angle between those two sides, to the nearest degree.
- 5Probability Equation Questions3 marks
A bag holds 5 counters, r of them red. Two are taken without replacement and P(both red) = 1/10. Work out r.
