Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Histograms2 marks
On a histogram, a 4-wide bar and a 8-wide bar have the same frequency density of 3. How many more values are in the wider class?
- 2Bounds3 marks
x = 169 and y = 72, each correct to the nearest whole number. Work out the upper bound of x - y.
- 3Proof3 marks
Prove that the sum of 5 consecutive integers is always a multiple of 5. State the simplified sum you would use.
- 4Velocity Time Graphs3 marks
A cyclist speeds up steadily from 9 m/s to 18 m/s over 6 seconds. Use the area under the velocity-time graph to find the distance travelled.
- 5Perpendicular Lines and the equation of a tangent3 marks
The point (20, 21) lies on the circle x^2 + y^2 = 841. Work out the gradient of the tangent to the circle at that point.
