A quadratic sequence starts 1, 13, 33, 61. Work out the second difference, and the coefficient of n^2.

A tram runs at 17 m/s for 20 s, then slows steadily to rest over 10 s. Work out its average speed for the whole journey, to 2 decimal places.
- 5Perpendicular Lines and the equation of a tangent3 marks
The point (9, 40) lies on the circle x^2 + y^2 = 1681. Work out the gradient of the tangent to the circle at that point.
