Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Bounds3 marks
A car covers 830 m (to the nearest 10 m) in 3 s (to the nearest second). Work out the lower bound of its speed, to 2 decimal places.
- 2Trigonometric and Exponential Graphs2 marks
The curve y = sin x° is drawn for 0 <= x <= 360. Write down the value of y when x = 360.
- 3Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to sqrt(x). When x = 49, y = 14. Work out y when x = 4.
- 4The Cosine Rule3 marks
A triangle has sides of 10 cm and 13 cm with an angle of 80° between them. Work out the third side, to 1 decimal place.
- 5Conditional Probability3 marks
A bag holds 6 red, 3 blue and 5 green counters. Two are taken without replacement. Given neither is green, what is the probability both are red?
