Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 5 units wide with frequency density 2, one 10 units wide with density 0.6. How many values in total?
- 2Surds3 marks
Expand and simplify (6 + sqrt(10))(6 - sqrt(10)).
- 3Transforming Graphs y=f(x)3 marks
The point (-3, -5) lies on y = f(x). Write down its image on y = -f(x).
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 4, y = 128. Work out the positive value of x when y = 200.
- 5Proof of the Circle Theorems2 marks
In a circle theorem proof, a step uses the fact that a radius is drawn to the midpoint of a chord. State the reason being quoted.
