Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 5 units wide with frequency density 0.4, one 25 units wide with density 1.4. How many values in total?
- 2Surds3 marks
Simplify sqrt(20) + sqrt(80), giving your answer in the form a sqrt(b).
- 3Rearranging Harder Formulae3 marks
Make x the subject of 5x + 6 = y(x + 6).
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 2, y = 32. Work out the positive value of x when y = 72.
- 5Proof of the Circle Theorems2 marks
In a circle theorem proof, a step uses the fact that a triangle is drawn from the ends of a diameter to a point on the circle. State the reason being quoted.
