Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 20 units wide with frequency density 1.5, one 20 units wide with density 0.6. How many values in total?
- 2Bounds3 marks
x = 154 and y = 142, each correct to the nearest whole number. Work out the upper bound of x - y.
- 3Proof3 marks
Prove that the sum of 6 consecutive integers is always a multiple of 3. State the simplified sum you would use.
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 4, y = 48. Work out the positive value of x when y = 243.
- 5Perpendicular Lines and the equation of a tangent3 marks
The point (3, 4) lies on the circle x^2 + y^2 = 25. Work out the gradient of the tangent to the circle at that point.
