Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 5 units wide with frequency density 1.2, one 5 units wide with density 0.8. How many values in total?
- 2Surds3 marks
Expand and simplify (9 + sqrt(6))(9 - sqrt(6)).
- 3Completing the Square3 marks
Work out the coordinates of the turning point of y = x^2 - 16x + 13.
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 5, y = 75. Work out the positive value of x when y = 147.
- 5Perpendicular Lines and the equation of a tangent3 marks
The point (9, 12) lies on the circle x^2 + y^2 = 225. Work out the gradient of the tangent to the circle at that point.
