Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.
- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 5 units wide with frequency density 1.2, one 20 units wide with density 0.8. How many values in total?
- 2Bounds3 marks
A rectangle is 9 cm by 21 cm, each correct to the nearest cm. Work out the upper bound of its area.
- 3Iteration3 marks
Use the iteration x(n+1) = cube root of (2x(n) + 7) with x(0) = 4. Work out x(1) to 3 decimal places.
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 3, y = 72. Work out the positive value of x when y = 648.
- 5Proof of the Circle Theorems2 marks
In a circle theorem proof, a step uses the fact that a triangle is drawn from the ends of a diameter to a point on the circle. State the reason being quoted.
