Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.
8th April 2013
- 1Proof of the Circle Theorems2 marks
In a circle theorem proof, a step uses the fact that opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral are being proved. State the reason being quoted.
- 2Probability Equation Questions3 marks
A bag holds 7 counters, r of them red. Two are taken without replacement and P(both red) = 1/21. Work out r.
- 3Histograms2 marks
On a histogram, a 10-wide bar and a 30-wide bar have the same frequency density of 2. How many more values are in the wider class?
- 4Bounds3 marks
A block has mass 500 g (to the nearest 10 g) and volume 19 cm^3 (to the nearest cm^3). Work out the upper bound of its density, to 2 decimal places.
- 5Inverse and Composite Functions3 marks
f(x) = 4x + 8 and g(x) = 5x - 8. Work out fg(3).
