Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.
- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 10 units wide with frequency density 2.5, one 5 units wide with density 3.5. How many values in total?
- 2Bounds3 marks
A block has mass 400 g (to the nearest 10 g) and volume 13 cm^3 (to the nearest cm^3). Work out the upper bound of its density, to 2 decimal places.
- 3Transforming Graphs y=f(x)3 marks
The point (5, -5) lies on y = f(x). Write down its image on y = f(x + 1).
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 5, y = 175. Work out the positive value of x when y = 175.
- 5Proof of the Circle Theorems2 marks
In a circle theorem proof, a step uses the fact that the angle in a semicircle is being proved. State the reason being quoted.
