Work out the discriminant of 4x^2 + 2x + 1 = 0 and say how many real solutions it has.

y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 6, y = 216. Work out y when x = 3.
- 4Similar Shapes (Area and Volume)3 marks
Two similar shapes have lengths in the ratio 1 : 5. The smaller has an area of 26 cm^2. Work out the area of the larger.
- 5Conditional Probability3 marks
15 students study Spanish and 4 of those also study Art. One Spanish student is picked at random. Work out the probability they study Art.
