Work out the discriminant of 3x^2 - 4x + 12 = 0 and say how many real solutions it has.

y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 4, y = 80. Work out y when x = 9.
- 4Similar Shapes (Area and Volume)3 marks
Two similar shapes have lengths in the ratio 1 : 5. The smaller has an area of 16 cm^2. Work out the area of the larger.
- 5Conditional Probability3 marks
18 students study Spanish and 9 of those also study Art. One Spanish student is picked at random. Work out the probability they study Art.
