Daily Practice - GCSE Science
Biology, chemistry and physics recall, definition and calculation, drawn from every strand.
28th November 2023
- 1Waves
Define the term 'wavelength' of a wave.
- 2Wave Properties and Behaviour
Explain, in terms of particle motion, why a wave can transfer energy without transferring matter.
- 3The Electromagnetic Spectrum
A microwave oven uses electromagnetic waves with a wavelength of 0.12 m. Calculate the frequency of these waves (speed of light = 3 x 10^8 m/s).
- 4Magnetism and Electromagnetism
A student wraps a coil of insulated wire around an iron nail and connects it to a battery. Name the device this creates, and state one way to increase its magnetic field strength.
- 5Magnetism and the Motor Effect
A current-carrying wire experiences a force of 1.2 N when placed at right angles to a magnetic field of flux density 0.40 T, carrying a current of 6.0 A. Calculate the length of wire in the field.
