- 1Wave Properties and Behaviour
A wave travels from air into glass and slows down. State what happens to its direction, and explain why in terms of wavelength.
- 2The Electromagnetic Spectrum
State the seven regions of the electromagnetic spectrum in order of increasing frequency.
- 3Magnetism and Electromagnetism
Describe the shape of the magnetic field produced around a long straight wire carrying a current.
- 4Magnetism and the Motor Effect
A rectangular coil carrying a current is placed in a magnetic field, with its two long sides parallel to each other. Explain why the coil rotates rather than moving in a straight line.
- 5Electromagnetic Induction and Transformers
A transformer has a primary current of 2.0 A and a primary voltage of 230 V. The secondary voltage is 460 V. Assuming the transformer is 100 percent efficient, calculate the secondary current.
