- 1Atomic Structure and the Development of the Model
Describe the plum pudding model.
- 2Radioactivity, Half-Life and Nuclear Uses
A GM tube detects a count rate of 240 counts per minute from a source. After 15 days the count rate has fallen to 30 counts per minute. Show that this data is consistent with a half-life of 5 days.
- 3Forces
A box has a driving force of 250 N forward and friction of 180 N backward. Calculate the resultant force, including its direction.
- 4Motion: Speed, Velocity and Acceleration
A skydiver reaches terminal velocity during free fall. Explain what is meant by 'terminal velocity'.
- 5Forces, Newton's Laws and Momentum
A skateboarder of mass 55 kg moving at 4 m/s collides with and grabs onto a stationary shopping trolley of mass 20 kg, and they move off together. Calculate their combined velocity immediately after the collision.
