A student reads the volume of liquid in a measuring cylinder. The bottom of the meniscus lines up exactly halfway between the 22 cm^3 and 24 cm^3 graduation marks. State the volume of liquid.

A pupil is choosing between two thermometers to measure a temperature change of about 5 degrees C: one has markings every 2 degrees C, and the other has markings every 0.2 degrees C. State which thermometer would give the more precise reading, and explain why.
