Daily Practice - Higher Plus
Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^3. When x = 2, y = 32. Work out y when x = 4.
- 2The Cosine Rule3 marks
A triangle has sides of 17 cm and 5 cm with an angle of 36° between them. Work out the third side, to 1 decimal place.
- 3Conditional Probability3 marks
A bag holds 3 red, 4 blue and 6 green counters. Two are taken without replacement. Given neither is green, what is the probability both are red?
- 4Histograms3 marks
On a histogram the bar for 50 < x <= 70 has a frequency density of 0.4. How many values are in that class?
- 5Bounds3 marks
A block has mass 750 g (to the nearest 10 g) and volume 25 cm^3 (to the nearest cm^3). Work out the upper bound of its density, to 2 decimal places.
