- 1Bounds3 marks
A rectangle is 27 cm by 27 cm, each correct to the nearest cm. Work out the upper bound of its area.
- 2Iteration3 marks
Use the iteration x(n+1) = cube root of (3x(n) + 7) with x(0) = 2. Work out x(1) to 3 decimal places.
- 3Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^3. When x = 3, y = 81. Work out y when x = 2.
- 4The Sine Rule3 marks
In triangle ABC, angle A is 39°, side a is 17 cm and side b is 8 cm. Work out the acute angle B, to 1 decimal place.
- 5Conditional Probability3 marks
A bag holds 4 red and 7 blue counters. Two are taken without replacement. Given the first was red, what is the probability the second is blue?
