Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.
6th December 2007
- 1Proof of the Circle Theorems2 marks
In a circle theorem proof, a step uses the fact that opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral are being proved. State the reason being quoted.
- 2Probability Equation Questions3 marks
A bag holds 11 counters, r of them red. Two are taken without replacement and P(both red) = 21/55. Work out r.
- 3Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 10 units wide with frequency density 0.4, one 20 units wide with density 3.5. How many values in total?
- 4Surds3 marks
Simplify sqrt(27) + sqrt(75), giving your answer in the form a sqrt(b).
- 5Transforming Graphs y=f(x)3 marks
The point (-3, 6) lies on y = f(x). Write down its image on y = f(x) - 2.
