Grades 8-9 - exam-stretch algebra, geometry and reasoning.

- 1Histograms3 marks
A histogram has two bars: one 10 units wide with frequency density 2, one 5 units wide with density 0.6. How many values in total?
- 2Bounds3 marks
A car covers 720 m (to the nearest 10 m) in 9 s (to the nearest second). Work out the lower bound of its speed, to 2 decimal places.
- 3Transforming Graphs y=f(x)3 marks
The point (-1, 1) lies on y = f(x). Write down its image on y = f(x) + 6.
- 4Direct and Inverse Proportion Depth3 marks
y is directly proportional to x^2. When x = 6, y = 252. Work out the positive value of x when y = 175.
- 5Proof of the Circle Theorems2 marks
In a circle theorem proof, a step uses the fact that a triangle is drawn from the ends of a diameter to a point on the circle. State the reason being quoted.
