You will be given five words in each question. Three of the five words are always linked in some way: they may come from the same group, contain a smaller word hidden inside them, follow the same spelling or letter pattern, or sound like other words. The remaining two words do not share that link. Study all five words, decide what connects three of them, and pick the option (A to E) that gives the two words which do NOT belong with that group of three. Look at the worked example first, then answer the questions in the order they appear.
Worked example. Here are five words: EAGLE, HERON, TEAPOT, FALCON, SAUCEPAN. Three of these five words share something in common. Which TWO words do NOT belong with the other three? Answer: TEAPOT and SAUCEPAN. EAGLE, HERON and FALCON are all birds of prey, so they form the group of three. TEAPOT and SAUCEPAN are kitchen items, not birds, so they are the two words that do not belong with the other three.
