Rods of four different metals, copper, aluminium, iron and lead, all the same length and thickness, each have a small ball attached to one end with wax. The other end of each rod is heated at the same time using an identical flame. A stopwatch records the time taken for each ball to fall off as the wax melts. The results are shown in the table.
