The papers above are scoped by grade band. These are scoped by teaching point instead: each one leaves out content a student at that stage has not met yet, so a mock in the middle of the course tests what has actually been covered.
These bands are a typical teaching order, not a syllabus rule. No exam board defines what belongs to Year 10, and schools sequence the course differently. Check the split against your own scheme of work before using it to decide what a class has covered. This Year 10/Year 11 line is a scheme-of-work convention, not a specification fact - no exam board (AQA, OCR, Edexcel) mandates a teaching order or a two-year pacing, so different centres genuinely place content differently: some compress the spec into eighteen months, some run combined science and separate biology on different timetables, and some interleave topics across both years rather than blocking them by half. I'm least confident about ecosystems-cycles (ecology): it has few prerequisites, so many schools teach it early in Year 10 as an accessible opening or filler unit, even though this bank's own strand grouping (and several schemes) bundle it with the later genetics/evolution content - its "Year 11" placement here is a reasonable default, not a certainty. human-defence-treatment is a secondary uncertainty, since some centres split it out of infection-disease and delay the immune-system/vaccines/drug-development content into Year 11 rather than teaching it as one Year 10 block. Treat this split as a sensible default for paper composition, not as a claim about what any specific school or student has actually covered.
