Papers scoped to what has been taught

The papers above are scoped by grade band. These are scoped by teaching point instead: each one leaves out content a student at that stage has not met yet, so a mock in the middle of the course tests what has actually been covered.

These bands are a typical teaching order, not a syllabus rule. No exam board defines what belongs to Year 10, and schools sequence the course differently. Check the split against your own scheme of work before using it to decide what a class has covered. Unlike an AS/A2 split, GCSE specifications do not define any Year 10 versus Year 11 boundary at all - this is purely a scheme-of-work convention, and it genuinely varies between schools. Some centres interleave topics across both years rather than completing a unit's earlier half before starting its later half, some 3-year KS4 schools begin GCSE content in Year 9 and so cover well over half of each science by the end of Year 10, and the three sciences are not always paced identically against each other. I am also less certain specifically about infection-response: it is less calculation-heavy than the other late-band topics, so some schools teach it alongside organisation in Year 10 rather than deferring it to Year 11 as assumed here. Treat this split as a reasonable default for generating a Year 10 versus full-GCSE paper, not as a claim about any particular school's actual timetable.
