Each question gives you a word before a set of brackets and a word after the brackets. You must find the ONE word that goes in the brackets so that it completes the word before it and begins the word after it, making two new real words (or, occasionally, a real word plus a very common two-word phrase). Study the worked example below, then choose your answer from options A to E for each question. Only one option is correct: check that your chosen word fits BOTH gaps, not just one, before you pick it. The questions start off easier and get harder as you go.
Worked example. BLACK ( ) CAGE Answer: BIRD. BLACK + BIRD = BLACKBIRD and BIRD + CAGE = BIRDCAGE are both real words, so BIRD is the word that completes both gaps.
