This is a 30-minute Verbal Reasoning depth practice on analogies and word relationships, styled on GL Assessment 11+ multiple-choice papers. It is a second, all-new set of analogy-style questions on this topic. There are 40 questions across four sections: Word Analogies, Related Pairs, Closest / Opposite Meaning and Complete the Pair. Every question is worth 1 mark, for 40 marks in total. Difficulty increases through each section and across the pack as a whole, finishing with scholarship-level stretch questions. For each question, choose the ONE best answer from the options A to E. No calculator is allowed. Read every word and instruction carefully: Section 3 mixes questions asking for the closest meaning with questions asking for the opposite meaning, so check which is being asked each time.
Worked example. Worked example (Word Analogies): TEACHER is to CLASSROOM as ACTOR is to ? Answer: Stage. First work out the relationship between the first pair of words: a TEACHER works in a CLASSROOM (worker to workplace). Then apply the same relationship to the second pair: the place where an ACTOR performs is the STAGE. Apply this same careful approach throughout the pack, even as the sections move on to related pairs, closest and opposite meaning, and completing a second pair of words: always work out the exact rule or connection being tested before choosing an option, and check that your chosen option fits that rule better than every other option on offer.
