This is a 24-minute Verbal Reasoning depth practice on letter and number sequences (Set 5), styled on GL Assessment 11+ multiple-choice papers. It is a fifth, all-new set of sequence questions on this topic. There are 32 questions across four sections: Letter Sequences, Number Sequences, Alphabet-Linked Number Sequences and Mixed Letter and Number Sequences. Every question is worth 1 mark, for 32 marks in total. Difficulty increases through each section and across the pack as a whole, finishing with scholarship-level stretch questions. For each question, choose the ONE best answer from the options A to E. No calculator is allowed. Read every question carefully, since the exact rule changes from question to question, including whether the gap between terms is fixed or growing, whether the alphabet wraps around from Z back to A, and whether letters and numbers in Section 3 and Section 4 need converting or reading together.
Worked example. Worked example (Letter Sequences): Find the letter that continues the sequence: E, H, K, N, ( ? ) A) O B) P C) Q D) R E) S Answer: C) Q. Converting each letter to its position in the alphabet gives E=5, H=8, K=11, N=14: each term is 3 more than the one before it. Continuing the same +3 step from N (14) gives 14+3=17, which is the letter Q. Option A (O=15) is two positions too low, option B (P=16) is one too low, option D (R=18) is one too high and option E (S=19) is two too high. Apply this same careful, position-by-position approach throughout the pack, even as the sections move from single letter sequences to pure number sequences, to sequences that link a letter to its alphabet position, and finally to sequences that pair a letter with a number at the same time: always find the exact rule connecting the given terms before choosing an option, and remember that the alphabet can wrap around from Z back to A in the harder questions.
