How to choose

Start with the task the student avoids. If they can code a short solution but lose marks when asked to trace it, print algorithm and pseudocode work. If they know definitions but cannot explain a trade-off, print architecture, networks or cyber security questions that require full sentences.

A good algorithm worksheet should include space for a trace table, not just a final output box. Students need to track variables line by line, spot loop conditions, and explain why the algorithm behaves as it does.

For number systems, insist on working. Binary, hexadecimal and storage questions are easier to mark when each step is visible, including place values, conversions, units and the final interpretation of the answer.

Use topic worksheets before mixed papers, then switch mode. Once a weak area has been practised, move into Computer Science mock papers or Computer Science past-paper packs so the student has to recognise the topic without being told.
