Name: _______________________________    Date: ____ / ____ / ______
In each question you will be given two meanings of a word. Find the ONE word that fits BOTH meanings and choose the matching option, A) to E). Some options will fit only ONE of the two meanings - these are not correct, even though they may seem close. Study the worked example before you begin, then work through the questions in order.
Worked example. Which ONE word means both 'the inner surface of your hand' and 'a tall tropical tree with long leaves at the top'? Answer: PALM. PALM is the flat inner part of the hand, and PALM is also the name of a tree often seen on beaches. Only PALM carries both meanings, so it is the answer. Words like HAND or TREE only fit one of the two meanings, so they cannot be the answer.
