Each question shows a made-up rule that turns the letters of one word into a secret code. Work out the rule from the example word and its code, then apply the identical rule to the second word given. Pick the single option, A to E, that gives the correct code (or, where asked, the correct word) - only one answer is ever correct.

Worked example. If the code for SPOON is TQPPO, what is the code for CHAIR? Answer: DIBJS. Each letter of SPOON has been moved 1 place forward in the alphabet to make the code TQPPO: S+1=T, P+1=Q, O+1=P, O+1=P, N+1=O. Applying the same rule to CHAIR: C+1=D, H+1=I, A+1=B, I+1=J, R+1=S, giving the code DIBJS.
