Read the text about Hugo, his town Ronda and local environmental issues, then answer all the questions. Questions 1 to 4 may be answered in English unless you are told to answer in Spanish. Question 5 asks you to translate part of the text into English.

Mi pueblo y el medio ambiente

Me llamo Hugo y tengo dieciséis años. Vivo en un pueblo pequeño que se llama Ronda, en el sur de España, rodeado de montañas y campos verdes. Me encanta vivir aquí porque el pueblo es tranquilo y todo el mundo se conoce.

Sin embargo, en los últimos años me he dado cuenta de que hay varios problemas medioambientales que afectan a mi región. Hay menos lluvia que antes, y el río que pasa cerca de mi pueblo tiene mucha menos agua en verano. Los agricultores dicen que la sequía hace su trabajo mucho más difícil cada año.

Además, hay demasiada basura en las calles y en el campo, sobre todo plástico que la gente tira sin pensar en las consecuencias. Por eso, el año pasado empecé a participar en un grupo de voluntarios que limpia el campo cerca del río todos los meses. También reciclamos todo lo posible en casa: el papel, el vidrio y el plástico van en contenedores diferentes.

En el instituto, tenemos un club de medio ambiente donde organizamos actividades para proteger la naturaleza, como plantar árboles y hacer carteles sobre el reciclaje para los estudiantes más jóvenes. Creo que la educación es la clave para cambiar las cosas.

En el futuro, me gustaría vivir en una ciudad más grande para estudiar en la universidad, pero siempre volveré a Ronda porque es mi hogar. Confío en que mi generación va a proteger el medio ambiente mejor que las generaciones anteriores.
