On Friday afternoon, Mrs Patel carried the lost property box out to the playground and called the class over. 'Whose red jumper is this?' she asked, holding it up high. 'That one is mine,' said Tomas, taking it gratefully. Next, Mrs Patel lifted out a blue water bottle. 'Is this yours, Aisha?' she asked. Aisha checked the label and nodded. 'Yes, that is mine,' she said. A woolly grey hat came out next, and Mrs Patel turned towards Sam. 'I think this hat is his,' said Aisha, before Sam could even speak. Sam laughed and pulled it straight on. 'It is definitely his,' he agreed. A pink hairband was tangled around the handle of the box. 'That must be hers,' said Ben, looking at Priya. Priya smiled and took it back. 'Yes, it really is hers,' she admitted. Two identical stripy scarves were folded together at the bottom. 'These belong to you two, don't they?' Mrs Patel asked the twins, Zac and Leo. 'Yes, they are ours,' Zac replied, and Leo nodded. Finally, a pair of bright trainers turned up, and Mrs Patel checked with Priya and Leah, who often swapped shoes at break time. 'Are these trainers theirs?' she asked the rest of the class. 'Yes, those are definitely theirs,' Ben confirmed. At last, only a small dog lead remained in the box. 'That must belong to Mr Ahmed's dog,' said Mrs Patel. 'Its collar was found near the school gate this morning too.'
