The papers above are scoped by grade band. These are scoped by teaching point instead: each one leaves out content a student at that stage has not met yet, so a mock in the middle of the course tests what has actually been covered.
These bands are a typical teaching order, not a syllabus rule. No exam board defines what belongs to Year 10, and schools sequence the course differently. Check the split against your own scheme of work before using it to decide what a class has covered. Unlike an AS/A2 split, there is no specification document that fixes what a Year 10 class has covered in GCSE French - each school writes its own two-year scheme of work, and centres genuinely sequence and pace topics differently, with some spiralling every theme across both years rather than blocking them by year. This split follows a common pattern (present before past before future/conditional; concrete everyday themes before the more abstract "future aspirations" material), but it is a convention, not a fact about the specification. I am least confident about translation and opinion-writing, which some schools introduce as recurring activity types from early in Year 10 rather than holding back for Year 11, and about "town-environment", which could lean toward a more advanced "global environmental issues" strand in some specifications rather than the everyday "describing your town" strand I have assumed here.
