The papers above are scoped by grade band. These are scoped by teaching point instead: each one leaves out content a student at that stage has not met yet, so a mock in the middle of the course tests what has actually been covered.
These bands are a typical teaching order, not a syllabus rule. No exam board defines what belongs to Year 10, and schools sequence the course differently. Check the split against your own scheme of work before using it to decide what a class has covered. This is a scheme-of-work convention, not anything written into the GCSE History specification - no exam board assigns a topic to Year 10 or Year 11, and departments genuinely order their two years very differently: some teach the modern depth study first instead of saving it for Year 11, some front-load the Western Front historic environment to spread the workload, and some carry a period study over into Year 11 rather than finishing it in Year 10. I am also less sure about two specific calls here: whether Medicine's second half (1700-present) reliably finishes inside Year 10 rather than running into Year 11, and whether the more demanding half of the chosen period study (american-west-conflict or cold-war-crises) is genuinely left for Year 11 everywhere rather than completed alongside its earlier half. Treat earlyTopicIds as a reasonable default for composing a Year 10 paper, and override it with a specific school's actual scheme of work whenever one is known.
