Name: _______________________________    Date: ____ / ____ / ______
Each question gives you a pair of words linked by a relationship, then a third word. Work out how the first pair of words is linked, then choose the option (A to E) that completes the second pair in exactly the same way. Only one option is correct in each question. Look carefully at the worked example below before you start. Watch out for options that are the right idea but the wrong type of word (for example a noun where a verb is needed), and for options linked to the third word by a different, weaker connection. Work through the questions in order: they start off easier and get harder as you go.
Worked example. MORNING is to SUNRISE as NIGHT is to ? (A) Sunset (B) Moon (C) Stars (D) Dark (E) Evening Answer: A) Sunset. Morning is marked by sunrise, the event that begins it. Night is marked by sunset, the event that begins it, so the relationship is 'the event that marks the start of this time of day'. Moon, Stars and Dark are things you associate with night but none of them marks its beginning, so they describe night rather than starting it. Evening is a different period of the day, not the event that starts night, so it does not fit the relationship either.
