This is a 28-minute Verbal Reasoning practice paper sampling standard GL Assessment verbal-reasoning question types, styled on GL Assessment 11+ multiple-choice papers. It is Practice Set S, an all-new set of mixed reasoning questions. There are 32 questions across eight sections: Odd One Out, Closest and Opposite in Meaning, Word Analogies, Compound Word Link, Hidden Word, Move a Letter, Letter Codes and Alphabet Sequences, and a Mixed Harder Finale. Every question is worth 1 mark, for 32 marks in total. Difficulty increases through the pack, from below-target opening questions through core target-level questions to a final, harder mixed section. For each question, choose the ONE best answer from the options given (A to E). No calculator or dictionary is allowed. Work through the sections in order and try to keep to the suggested time shown at the start of each section; if you are unsure of an answer, mark your best guess and move on.
Worked example. Worked example (Move a Letter): One letter moves from the end of the first word to the front of the second word, so that both remaining and newly formed words are correctly spelled. Which option shows this done correctly for STAGE and AT?
A) Stag and Eat B) Tage and Sat C) Stage and Ta D) Sta and Geat E) Sat and Stage Answer: A. Moving the last letter of STAGE (E) to the front of AT leaves STAG, a real word (a male deer), and forms EAT, a real word. Option B moves a letter from the front of STAGE instead of the end. Option C does not move a letter at all, so STAGE stays whole and TA is not a real word. Option D moves two letters (G and E) instead of one, and GEAT is not a real word. Option E does not apply the rule correctly either. Only option A correctly moves exactly one letter from the end of the first word to the front of the second.
