Question 1

  • Level 4 (9-10): Both bullet points covered with relevant, connected content; some justified opinion given; a small range of vocabulary and simple connectives used accurately.
  • Level 3 (6-8): Both bullet points covered, mostly relevant; a simple opinion given even if undeveloped; generally accurate simple sentences.
  • Level 2 (3-5): One bullet point covered in reasonable detail, or both covered only briefly/as a list; limited or no opinion; basic vocabulary with some errors.
  • Level 1 (1-2): Minimal relevant content, largely single words or fragments; frequent errors that make meaning hard to follow.
  • Indicative content:
    • J'étudie les maths, l'anglais, l'histoire et le français.
    • Ma matière préférée est la géographie parce que c'est intéressant.
    • Mes professeurs sont assez sympas, mais ils sont parfois stricts.
    • Je pense que mes professeurs m'aident bien quand j'ai des difficultés.
    • J'aime bien mon collège, même si les cours sont parfois longs.

Question 2

    • Level 3 (6-8): Most bullet points covered with some detail; content is mostly relevant; some opinions given, though not always developed.
    • Level 2 (3-5): Some bullet points covered; content is fairly basic or list-like in places; limited development or opinion.
    • Level 1 (1-2): One or two bullet points only, or content largely irrelevant/very underdeveloped.
  • Range and accuracy of language (15 marks)
    • Level 4 (12-15): Wide range of vocabulary and structures; at least three tenses (e.g. present, perfect, near future/conditional) used with general accuracy; complex sentences with a variety of connectives; errors are minor and rarely impede communication.
    • Level 3 (8-11): Good range of vocabulary and structures; two tenses attempted with reasonable accuracy; some longer sentences with connectives; errors occasionally impede communication.
    • Level 2 (4-7): Adequate but limited range of vocabulary; mainly one tense used, with a second tense attempted but not always accurate; simple sentences predominate; errors sometimes impede communication.
    • Level 1 (1-3): Narrow range of vocabulary; little verb variety, mostly present tense or set phrases; basic short sentences; frequent errors often impede communication.
