How to use these worksheets

  1. Pick one skill that matches the lesson or the gap you have found. Open the pack page first if you want to check the level and length before using paper.
  2. Print the PDF and set a clear stopping point. A single focused KS2 English (SATs) sheet usually gives better evidence than a long mixed booklet when you are checking whether one method is secure.
  3. Mark it with the scheme at the back. Keep the questions that were missed, write down the reason, then return to that skill with a new pack instead of repeating answers the student already knows.

Rewrite the sentence below, adding a colon in the correct place: 'Ali packed three things for the trip a torch a map and a compass.'

  1. Read the sentence and find where a list follows an introductory statement.
  2. The introductory part is 'Ali packed three things for the trip' and the list is 'a torch, a map and a compass'.
  3. Insert a colon immediately after 'trip' and before the list begins.
  4. Add commas to separate the items in the list: torch, map, compass.
  5. Final answer: Ali packed three things for the trip: a torch, a map and a compass.
