AQA Level 2

How to use these worksheets

  1. Pick one skill that matches the lesson or the gap you have found. Open the pack page first if you want to check the level and length before using paper.
  2. Print the PDF and set a clear stopping point. A single focused GCSE Further Maths sheet usually gives better evidence than a long mixed booklet when you are checking whether one method is secure.
  3. Mark it with the scheme at the back. Keep the questions that were missed, write down the reason, then return to that skill with a new pack instead of repeating answers the student already knows.

Simplify fully (x^2 + x - 6)/(x^2 - 9).

  1. Factorise the numerator: x^2 + x - 6 = (x + 3)(x - 2).
  2. Factorise the denominator using the difference of two squares: x^2 - 9 = (x - 3)(x + 3).
  3. Rewrite the fraction as [(x + 3)(x - 2)] / [(x - 3)(x + 3)].
  4. Cancel the common factor of (x + 3) from the numerator and denominator.
  5. Final answer: (x - 2)/(x - 3).
