Ben buys a coat costing 52.40 pounds and a scarf costing 8.75 pounds using a 100 pound gift card. Work out how much money is left on the gift card.
- Add the cost of the coat and the scarf: 52.40 + 8.75.
- Align the decimal points: 52.40 + 8.75 = 61.15.
- Subtract this total from the value of the gift card: 100 - 61.15.
- 100.00 - 61.15 = 38.85.
- Final answer: 38.85 pounds is left on the gift card.
